Federal Marine Terminals (FMT) FMT has been handling cargoes in the Great Lakes and St.

Lawrence River and along the East and Gulf coasts since 1960.

Originally established to complement the freight operations of the Montreal-based Fednav Group, FMT soon began to function independently and is now recognized as an industry leader servicing bulk, specialized, and general cargo needs.

Position: Vice President, Operations Reporting To: Executive Vice President, FMT Location: Montreal Head office Responsibilities: To be responsible for the development of operational policies and procedures for all FMT terminal locations.

To train, direct and ensure that all Corporate Managers, Regional Directors, and Terminal General Managers are in compliance with the established policies and procedures Operational Performance: Oversee operational performance of Regional Directors, Corporate Managers, and Terminal General Managers, including Individual Performance Plans ( IPP ) Assist Regional Directors and Terminal General Managers with the training and development of qualified and efficient staff Assist Regional Directors and Terminal General Managers with any issues beyond their area of expertise Collaborate with Risk Management Dept.

in resolving cargo claims and other relevant issues.

Assist Regional Directors and Terminal General Managers to resolve operational issues/conflicts Collaborate with FMT Commercial VP to ensure overall efficiencies and customer satisfaction Finance and Administration: Review monthly P&L, provide feedback, and participate in the financial analysis Assist with Cost/Benefit analysis of new business opportunities Participate in creating and updating annual forecasts Labour Relations: Assist Terminal General Managers with union negotiations Management Trustee on multi-employer Pension & Welfare Funds Represent FMT at GLDC/ILA Labor Management Committee (LMC) meetings Assist Terminal General Managers with arbitrations and grievances, attend meetings when required Safety, Security and Environment: Oversee the effectiveness of FMT’s Safety, Security and Environmental Policies Participate as a Member of the FMT corporate safety committee Ensure regulatory compliance with safety, security and environmental issues Ensure annual safety audits are performed and monitor follow-up of discrepancies Monitor safety performance by location ( KPI ) Develop and maintain quality programs at FMT locations Equipment Maintenance: Assist Regional Directors, Corporate Manager of M&R and Terminal General Managers in securing and maintaining equipment to maximize productivity Assist Terminal General Managers and the Corporate Manager of M&R with the preparation and development of annual capital expenditure plans Improve maintenance & repair programs at FMT locations Provide Risk Management Department with equipment inventory values for insurance renewals Requirements: University Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or related field is considered an asset Minimum of 10 years prior experience in similar role Previous experience in Marine/stevedoring industry is considered an asset Prior experience working in a unionized environment is required Experience with health and safety policy development and implementation within an industrial environment such as stevedoring, transportation, mining, construction is also required Demonstrated leadership/management ability Excellent coaching and mentoring ability Strong negotiator Analytical, precise, compliant Excellent communication skills, ability to be persuasive and firm Proficient in Microsoft office, Oracle financials an asset Excellent English language skills, French considered an asset
