Manager, AP Merchandising (12 Month Contract)

This is a Full-time position in Milverton, ON posted March 22, 2021.

Position Purpose: The manager, AP merchandising provides support and leadership to merchandising teams by identifying and communicating operational processes and shrink trends to the merchants and the broader merchandising stakeholder teams.

The incumbent will identify and communicate trends, make recommendations and support changes to mitigate profit erosion, support inventory accuracy and align with merchandising strategies.

The incumbent will work directly with the merchandising team and vendor community.

Effective communication both written and verbal is required.

This position will be a link between the AP team in stores and the merchandising organization.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with merchandising teams, central data management group (CDMG), supply chain, stores, MET & U.S.

• Monitor vendor performance, trends and operational opportunities related to retail loss
• Broad understanding of shrink trends and forecasts, and ability to work cross functionally to determine root causes
• Broad understanding of merchandising strategy, events, and changes to understand impacts to shrink and inventory accuracy, and ability to mitigate opportunities through cross functional collaboration
• Lead the effective communication of shrink trends, impacts and causes with merchandising team
• Manage the shrink alert process of collecting relevant information from stores, working with merchandising and vendor partners, and issuing store communication to resolve opportunities
• Liaison with vendor partners and external organizations to understand, model and test new technologies and processes to mitigate shrink and support inventory accuracy
• Lead the execution of projects, pilots and tests that mitigate shrink
• Effectively partner with AP field teams, supply chain asset protection, and other operational teams to understand and resolve merchandising opportunities.

• Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M Meets Expectations)
• 5 years of management experience (ideally in a retail environment) with emphasis on merchandising, store operations and/or asset protection
• Bachelor’s degree in retail management, business administration or an equivalent degree
• Background in either of store operations, merchandising and/or asset protection
• Experience managing shrink and operational metrics, P&L and other financial metrics an asset
• Ability to analyze situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity
• Ability to effectively communicate complex reports, data, and processes in a simplified manner to a broad audience
• Proven ability to guide business decisions and influence others through effective analysis and communication of data
• Ability to provide excellent customer service, communicate and negotiate effectively with all levels inside and outside the organization
• Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects to completion
• Exceptional Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office knowledge required
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Bilingualism (French/English) an asset
