Fleet Manager, London & Sarnia

This is a Full-time position in London, ON posted June 1, 2019.

WM is seeking a Fleet Manager for our London & Sarnia Districts to oversee the maintenance department and manage the full fleet of 45 pieces of equipment in alignment with corporate objectives and cost management processes.

You will work closely with the District Manager to lead our team of 10 shop employees to ensure safe and effective use of resources, inventory, time & capital.

Fleet Manager Day-To-Day You will be responsible for effective management of all fleet & maintenance activities.

You take pride in your work and will utilize your mechanical knowledge and expertise to guide your team of Mechanics, Welders and support staff to ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.

– the safety of our trucks is no exception Your role as a Fleet Manager will be to ensure you execute proactive strategies to ensure safety & compliance with WM and MTO standards.

This will be achieved through consistent employee safety meetings and open communication to maintain favourable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity and efficiency.

From a financial perspective, you will be required to monitor budget while regularly analyzing procedures; this involves participation in P&L reviews to ensure goals are being met, while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures and performance.

Skills You Possess You have experience working in a maintenance shop
– whether it’s been as a Mechanic, Lead-Hand, Supervisor or Manager
– you know trucks and love being in this environment.

Adept at conducting research into service-related issues, you have a sound working knowledge of heavy duty trucks.

You have outstanding leadership skills and are determined to coach, mentor and train employees to drive accountability and results.

Your innate communication skills will allow you to partner effectively partner with front-line employees to senior management to achieve success.

Your prioritization abilities allow you to function effectively in a high-pressure environment, with a clear sense of urgency about planning and work execution.

Our London & Sarnia districts operates under a unionized environment, so working knowledge of unionized environments is strongly preferred as you will be required to manage employee/labour relation issues and execute progressive discipline processes.

Education & Experience You have a High School Diploma/equivalency and 6 years of work experience in a role with fleet supervisory/management capacity where you were responsible for coaching, managing safety and leading employees.

Having your 310T Truck & Coach Certification is not required, but would be a huge asset.
