Who You Are… As the successful candidate, you hold a Personal Support Worker Certification (or equivalent) as well as a Current CPR & Emergency First Aid Certification.

You are passionate about working with seniors and have experience working with the elderly in a seniors’ living or long-term care environment.

It would be an asset to have completed a course on Alzheimer’s disease and/or other Dementia Care Course and an asset to have completed your basic food safety training (or similar).

You are available to work a schedule of flexible hours and all shifts inclusive of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Advanced proficiency in the English language is required, proficiency in other languages considered an asset.

This is a casual position.

What you will do… Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, the Personal Support Worker is responsible for meeting residents’ needs according to an individualized service plan and all aspects of personal care for residents.

You will assist residents with activities of daily living and you may perform and assist in light housekeeping, meal preparation, basic laundry service, recreational activities, and other related work.

Our expectations of you… Assist residents with daily living activities and hygiene such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skincare, meals, and mobilizing according to the care plan and work assignment; Assist residents and culinary team during mealtime; Assist in the provision of social, spiritual, and intellectual activities for residents; Complete all duties in a way that is consistent with Parkland’s philosophy and standards of service and care.

Promote safety culture by continuously working safely including but not limited to identifying and reporting hazards, following safe work practices and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, supporting others to work safely and completing safety education.

Follows safety, environmental, and infection control practices, as per facility policies; Works with a variety of operating systems.

Committed to adhering to all of Parkland’s Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures.

Demonstrates exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.
