Personal lending representative

This is a Full-time position in St Catharines, ON posted May 10, 2019.

Purpose of the Job: Personal Lending is part of Meridian’s Risk Management function.

The department is accountable for managing overall credit risk, providing prompt adjudication and credit coaching to partners within the organization, as well as handling all adjudication for Mobile Mortgage Specialist (MMS) and Branch initiated credit requests.

As a Personal Lending Representative you will review, process and decision credit card applications submitted from multiple channels in a timely and effective manner.

You will also provide exceptional service to all our Branches, Mobile Mortgage Specialists and Motus Bank by providing administrative support to the Personal Lending Coaches.

You will further support the achievement of Personal Lending goals while adhering to established regulatory and Meridian credit policies and guidelines and within assigned lending authority, to manage overall credit risk.

Key Responsibilities: Underwrite all new referred credit card applications consistent with approved Underwriting Guidelines.

Ongoing review of existing cardholder accounts to ensure compliance with Underwriting Guidelines and risk standards.

Verify all information provided on the credit application and supporting documentation is correct and consistent.

Understand and read credit reports.

Communicate with branches and/or card applicants regarding their applications as needed to make an underwriting decision Approve or provide recommendations for approval, credit holds or declines of credit card applications.

Communicate decisions effectively in both verbal and written communication.

Evaluate the overall Meridian relationship when making a credit decision, including connected borrowings and concurrent lending requests Ability to keep current on industry trends, market conditions and relevant legislation Share application trending and insights with Manager, Credit Risk – Credit Cards to ensure a sound credit card portfolio Provide administrative support to the Personal Lending Coaches by collecting, verifying and if required, forwarding for review all supporting documentation required Maintain credit files, ensuring proper follow up for pending mortgages Compile and transfer supporting documentation/files to the Branch network as required Request, communicate and work with Lending Operations for requests for security documentation Be able to calculate/verify income based on supporting documentation submitted Review residential appraisals and refer when deficiencies are noted or further review is warranted/required Remain informed of changes to lending practices within the market place and of changes to the lending practices of our private and government High Ratio insurers Maintain quality relationships with partners, engage in problem solving and issue resolution to find appropriate solutions Knowledge, Experience and Skills: Minimum of two years’ experience in Personal Lending in a financial services environment, in particular in areas such as: Lending policies and restrictions Meridian Product knowledge and parameters In depth knowledge and understanding of Risk Based lending principles Ability to present logical well drafted recommendations for presentation to higher levels of authority as well as peers Knowledge and interpretation of regulatory and legislative requirements for lending In depth knowledge of Meridian’s mortgage related credit policies Ability to work collaboratively with the Mobile Mortgage Specialists, retail branches and Lending Operations in meeting or exceeding the needs of our Members Ability to employ good tact, judgment and objectivity Demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to solving difficult challenges and seizing opportunities Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast paced environment Works well in a team environment Adept at improving service and efficiencies Inspired.
