We currently have an opening for an Estimator.

This position is responsible for estimating a variety of commercial and light industrial projects with a direct contribution to cost management and budgeting for various high level projects.

RESPONSIBILTIES: Review and Develop discipline and multi-discipline materials takeoffs (MTO) Evaluate and Develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates and proposals Perform productivity analysis of cost estimates; perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness; provide recommendations for alternates where applicable Identify scopes of work Contact necessary sub-trades and suppliers for estimates Supply necessary sub-trades and suppliers with required drawings and data Field construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers Complete preliminary construction schedules QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 3 years of experience in construction and cost estimating Formal education in construction (Diploma/Certificate) is considered an asset; an engineering Quantity Surveying or accounting related degree and/or relevant experience would be an asset Understanding of a construction work site is considered an asset Ability to document and organize complex streams of information (efficiently, accurately with minimal information, strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills) Clearly communicate estimating concepts to various individuals in the organization Understanding of Building Construction from concept to completion Demonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal) Ability to lead by example and set standard of professionalism Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, Timberline, MS Project, Insite)
