The Senior Advisor, Strategy and Corporate Development will help the Director, Strategy and Corporate Development develop BDC’s corporate strategy and reflect on complex projects.

He or she will be instrumental in the development of the annual strategic retreats, related strategic initiatives and innovation that will influence the institution’s future performance.

Being constantly updated on the latest industry developments, in Canada and around the world, that could have an impact on SMEs and on the environment in which BDC operates.

Disseminate market knowledge to the rest of the team on a regular basis.

Translate new market trends and SME needs into concrete opportunities for the organization.

Build strategic documents synthesizing complex and detailed research and information to communicate key findings and recommendations.

Contribute to the development of the content for the two strategic retreats (with the Senior Management Committee and the Board of Directors) Be a key player in the conduct of strategic initiatives stemming from the company’s strategy (including concept development for innovative ideas); Liaise with various stakeholders in order to understand their needs and challenges.

Contribute to the prioritization of innovative ideas / projects Take charge of the elaboration of workshops and documentation leading to conclusions and concrete actions Given the high level of operational and conceptual complexity, develop an in-depth understanding of the organization and of its business lines Contribute to the development of a business case when required Help identify and nurture the relationship with the right internal and external partner(s) when conducting proof-of-concepts Support the Director, Strategic Planning when required, more specifically during the Business Units Planning exercise.

What we are looking for Bachelor’s degree in commerce / administration; a graduate degree wouldbe an asset Five to eight years’ relevant experience in strategy development; any other combination of experience deemed relevant will be considered Experience in fintech, digital transformation and/or innovation would be a strong asset.

Experience in consulting firm, corporate development, venture capital or investment banking are an asset Solid knowledge of the Financial Services industry, including the fintech sector Solid strategic thinking with pragmatic approach Good quantitative analysis Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work collaboratively with / and coordinate internal and external stakeholders Ability to develop and structure complex strategic planning documents Ability to gather relevant information, produce summaries Excellent oral and written communication skills, in both official languages Ability to work in a team and under pressure to meet tight and often-conflicting deadlines Curiosity and genuine interest in continuous learning Good judgment, tact and discretion EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER At BDC, we value diversity in our workforce and encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
