Customs Compliance Specialist

Boshart Industries Inc.

This is a Contract position in Milverton, ON posted October 28, 2021.

Boshart Industries is looking for a driven individuals to facilitate, review and provide guidance on all import/export matters.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitate, review and provide guidance on all import/export matters, this includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Ensure import and export compliance policies and procedures, including integrity of data declared to government agencies is maintained and behalf of the company
  • Monitor import and export activities and work in conjunction with our trade and service providers to clear shipments and ensure customs compliance
  • Identify required documentation in both the importing and exporting environments. Periodic review of documentation to ensure compliance and maintain the ability to generate required export documentation
  • Responsible for CUSMA (formerly NAFTA) compliance
  • Facilitate CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management Project (CARM)
  • Responsible for accurate HS Classification, duty rates to calculate landed costs of goods and country of origin for all products
  • Develop and maintain a Duty Drawback program from identification of eligible products and related data required to filing a claim.
  • Engage with the business units to identify changes to the import and export operations; update SOP for each identified process and document the operation in correlation to functional group
  • Primary contact for Customs inquiries as well as relevant service providers such as Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Trade Consultants etc.
  • Verify and maintain all compliance standards for import and export, including C-TPAT and PIP validation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree/diploma in International Trade/Logistics, Customs or Supply Chain
  • Professional customs designation(s) or enrolled in a customs program
  • Ability to interact with all departments at all levels of the organization
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in import and export operation, customs brokerage house, or international transportation/logistics organization
  • Extensive experience with CUSMA (formerly NAFTA) compliance
  • Current knowledge on CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management Project (CARM)
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Access
  • Analytical skills and ability to synthesize and clearly communicate; practical attitude; solution oriented
