You will be responsible for leading and managing the end to end payroll function, including all day-today activities and providing payroll, benefits and total rewards expertise to all levels throughout the organization.


Position Responsibilities:

  • 5+ years’ payroll experience (using Ceridian product – preferably Dayforce)
  • Processing the full cycle of biweekly payrolls for salary and hourly employees in an accurate and timely manner
  • Administers various payments such as STD pay, retro pay, vacation pays, etc.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal departments and site management regarding payroll matters in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner
  • Benefit Administration using Great West Life platform (update Great West Life records, reconcile invoices, adding new employees, etc.)
  • Total Rewards – provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of our Total Rewards programs including health, wellness, base pay, incentives, and other rewards and perquisites
  • Develop and update complex reports as requested
  • Process payments to third parties – RRSP/Pension, as well as, ensuring that deductions are in accordance with provincial and federal legislation and corporate policies
  • Ensures that monthly and year-end regulatory filings are completed on a timely basis
  • Ensures that internal controls are complied with for all payroll processes
  • Special projects as assigned and other duties as appropriate and required
  • Responsible for performance management process
    • Leading the process
    • Tracking data
  • Compensation/ benefits/ pension management and administration
    • Responsible for all benefits, pension and compensation administration
    • Oversees annual compensation review and ensure philosophy aligns with market competitive trends and internal consistency
    • Ongoing annual analysis of benefits program to continue employee satisfaction and cost effectiveness
    • Manage the Rewards & Recognition program from a budget and effectiveness perspective
    • Present improvements and concerns to manager for buy in and approval
  • In depth HR reporting and analysis
    • Use data to trend and determine action items
    • Review and analyze employee survey data
    • Determine action steps


 Position Requirements:

  • CPP/PCP Certification or in progress
  • 3-5+ years of full cycle payroll experience
  • Ceridian Dayforce experience considered an asset
  • Proven communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Honest, ethical and trustworthy attitude
  • Proven ability to set and achieve objectives
  • Desire to work in a team environment, in multiple different capacities
  • Ability to write, understand and implement policies and procedures to all levels of the organization
