Job opportunity – English medical writerThe medical writer is an important part of the creative team, contributing to the development of impactful and creative advertising campaigns.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for writing different forms of copy (promotional, educational, scientific) for health care professionals, patients, and consumers in various media formats (print, digital, web, social media, etc.).

The medical writer must be able to understand, interpret, and synthesize scientific information.

You will be called upon to work with members of the strategic and creative teams, as well as freelancers.

You will also liaise with the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB) and agency clients.SkillsKeen interest in and understanding of scienceSolid writing skills and understanding of medical concepts and terminologyMeticulous work ethic to ensure accuracy of information and supporting sourcesStrong organizational skills and sense of responsibilityGood composure under pressure and ability to meet very tight deadlinesAbility to multitask and work in a team effectivelyRequirementsBachelor or Master of Science, Pharmacology, or a related disciplineorDegree in English writing, journalism, or any related discipline, with a strong interest in scienceMastery of written and spoken English; knowledge of French is a plus2–3 years’ experience as a medical writer in an advertising agency on different accountsKnowledge and application of PAAB Code and Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) CodeMastery of MS Office suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Main responsibilitiesWrite an outline and copy (scientific, clinical, medical, or creative) based on a project briefSource/reference documents and upload them using different client portals for medical/legal/regulatory internal reviewWork with the creative team to develop concepts and impactful layoutsEdit or re-work copy based on client or internal comments until copy approval is obtainedEnsure that consistent terminology is used in different tools for the same brandBe a master of the PAAB Code and ASC Code in order to: Guide the work of the creative team and validate the feasibility of proposed tactics/layouts Suggest content that will limit the number of rounds with PAAB/ASC while seeking approval of the most impactful message possible Negotiate with PAAB/ASC and determine the best POA for response letters Educate/explain the limitations of the codes to clients Represent the client’s voice and interests when speaking with PAAB/ASCOther benefitsOffices in the beautiful backdrop of Sherbrooke (or 100% telework)Competitive compensationGroup insurance with 50% coverage provided by the employerA flexible 37.5-hour work week schedulePossibility of going skiing at 5:00 p.M.
