Injection Molding Tool Designer

This is a Full-time position in Richmond Hill, ON posted June 2, 2019.

Job Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for the design of customized injection moulding tools from prototyping to production.

Responsibilities: Develops pre-design from information provided by the customer and may be required to develop several concepts to achieve a final design direction.

Investigates and procures all data required to develop designs and uses best combination of preliminary information and contributing data to develop final designs.

Develops complete design, which includes layouts with background information, detail drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with customer and technical requirements.

Makes changes to current product as directed by Design Leader.

Uses understanding of stack ups, gaps/margins, and master sections, and formats them in a manner that meets the requirements of engineering.

Prepares all sketches and/or schematic diagrams.

Makes changes to current product as directed by Design Leader.

Transfers data per company process and keeps the part file folder up to date.

Develops and conducts any specific feasibility studies needed to address issues.

Ensures the integrity of all design information communicated on assigned programs.

Other duties as assigned Qualifications/ Education: Associates Degree in a technical discipline or related field with 10 years manufacturing experience with at least 5years’ experience in injection molding ability to view and interpret three-dimensional drawings, Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software is required (SolidWorks is preferred) Demonstrated high interest in the plastics industry Must have a strong desire to design world class injection moulds Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced team environment Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal Excellent attendance, work habits and organizational skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to use 8D process would be an asset Ability to work independently Practical knowledge of machining processes is an asset Soft Skills: Extensive experience and expertise on injection molding tooling design.

Experience in LSR molding preferred High level of attention to detail and mechanical aptitude Cross-functional business team environment experience preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills excellent attendance, ability to present proper company image when meeting with customers.
